Bidding open for special one-of-a-kind diamond ring being auctioned in aid of Redwings

Sealed bids are now open for a custom-made horse-themed diamond ring being auctioned off in aid of Redwings.

The one-of-a-kind piece was designed and created for Susan Jamieson, CEO of Red Scarf Equestrian in Canada and a passionate advocate for horses, before her passing.

The 9ct gold handcrafted ring, by Ethica Diamonds based in Cornwall, was intended to be the first of a bespoke jewellery collection to be sold to raise money for horses in need, that sadly was not able to be completed.

Lydia Booth, Marketing and Corporate Partnerships Manager at Redwings, said: “We feel deeply privileged to have the opportunity to auction off this beautiful piece of jewellery made by Ethica Diamonds who have so kindly donated it to us.

“The ring was made for Susan Jamieson, who dedicated both her professional and private life to horses, sharing her passion with others through her business, a radio show, podcasts and other media work.

“It’s an absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind piece that we know will find it’s perfect home with someone who adores horses the way Susan did and will honour the love with which it was designed and created by Susan and Ethica Diamonds, as well as supporting the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in our care.”

Redwings is one of the largest horse welfare charities in the UK, and is responsible for over 2,000 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, many of whom have been neglected or cruelly treated. The charity has sanctuaries which are open to visitors in Norfolk, Warwickshire, Essex and Forfar, Scotland. Their work is only possible thanks to generous donations from supporters.

The auction bundle includes the 9ct gold horse head ring, adorned with a cascade of diamonds, in ring size J, donated by Ethica Diamonds; a copy of Redwings and the UEA’s very special edition of Anna Sewell’s timeless classic novel, Black Beauty; a signed copy of Homely Ballads and Stories in Verse: The Poetry of Mary Sewell , Anna’s mother and a writer in her own right, and a free adoption of Redwings’ beautiful Black Beauty lookalike Maya.  The charity is the custodian of Anna Sewell House in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, where the author was born and lived.

Submit your sealed bid by 31st October to Communications Team, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Hapton, Norfolk, NR15 1SP, marked with 'Charity Auction' and be sure to include your contact details. Only the successful bidder will be notified.

Lydia said: “By participating in this auction, you are helping to conserve the legacies of two incredible women - Susan Jamieson and Anna Sewell. Their dedication to improving the lives of horses continues through Redwings, and your support ensures that their vision remains a reality. Together, we will honour their memories and make a difference to the lives of horses in need.

“Please spread the word about this special auction, 100% of the proceeds from which will go towards Redwings’ vital work, and good luck!”
