Molly Varga Smith to open specialist-led exotics practice ‘The Exotic Animal Vets’

Exotics specialist and Supreme Petfoods Veterinary Advisor, Molly Varga Smith BVetMed CertZooMed DZooMed (Mammalian) MRCVS, has announced the launch of her new veterinary practice, The Exotic Animal Vets (TEAV), set to open on 22nd April 2025 in Urmston, Manchester. TEAV will be the first and only specialist-led exotics practice in the North of England, offering first opinion, second opinion and referral consultations exclusively for exotic species.

Molly, an RCVS recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, brings decades of experience and a deep commitment to improving the health and welfare of exotics. She will be responsible for the veterinary caseload during the initial phase of the practice, with plans to expand the clinical team as the practice grows. Molly will be supported by a team of highly skilled veterinary nurses, including Craig Tessyman RVN, who holds a certificate in Nursing Exotic Species, and a non-clinical nurse who will manage triage, dispensing and reception duties.

“We know that exotic pets require highly specialised care and our mission is to provide that expertise with compassion.” says Molly Varga. “Our entire team is trained and experienced in handling, treating, and advising on a diverse range of exotic species. We are committed to providing the highest standard of care for every animal that comes through our doors.”

The practice will offer comprehensive 24/7 care with the same team managing both daytime and out-of-hours emergencies ensuring continuity and familiarity for clients and their pets. Fully equipped to cater to a wide variety of exotic species, the practice will have state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet their unique needs. These include heated hospital cages for small mammals such as rabbits and rodents, custom-built vivaria with species-appropriate UV lighting tailored to different reptile requirements and advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment specifically designed for exotic animal care.

Reflecting Molly’s long-standing commitment to the health and welfare of exotic species, Supreme Petfoods will support the practice by providing a range of premium small animal food and treats, including their newly launched small pet supplement range, all available for purchase in the practice waiting room.

“We are delighted to support The Exotic Animal Vets as they bring specialist care to exotic pets in the North of England,” says Claire Hamblion, Marketing Director at Supreme Petfoods. “We’ve worked with Molly for many years and her depth of knowledge in exotic species is second to none. She shares our passion for improving small pet welfare, and we’re proud to provide nutritional support to a practice led by someone so highly respected in their field.”

The practice is now open for new client registrations. More information is available through the following link: www.TheExoticAnimalVets.co.uk
